An 11-reviewer pass over f157bf7460..f5163d8351 found defects in the mobile
tab-discard change set itself. This fixes them.
Silent data loss (the recurring defect class):
- AgentDetailView reconnect refetched limit:100 and replaced wholesale, so 380
displayed lines vanished with no "Load older" and no indicator; it now
reconciles through the shared logStreamReconcile helper.
- useActivityLog.loadMore past the cap discarded the page it had just fetched
while advancing the cursor and leaving hasMore true, so the feed silently
stopped paginating behind a live-looking button.
- useAgentLogs: loadMore and resyncFromServer had no mutual exclusion, a
no-overlap resync discarded explicitly paged-back history, a resync outliving
the reconnect delay left an unmarked gap, and the live-tail trim could evict
the gap marker itself.
- useLiveTranscript's resync overwrote live entries that raced the refetch.
The premise itself was not fully delivered:
- useProjects, useNodes, and useMeshState never called clearInterval, so they
polled the whole time the tab was hidden. useProjects is mounted for the
entire session, so the page never went idle -- the primary mechanism this
work depends on. All three now use the shared visibility gate.
- sse-bus fired onReconnect twice per reconnect cycle and fanned out ~28
subscribers in one tick, against a ~6-connection-per-origin cap on a waking
radio. The successful open is now the single authority, and the fan-out uses
the same exported stagger primitive as the polling path rather than a second
copy of the slot formula.
- A channel first subscribed during the hidden window opened a live EventSource
and keepalive; suspension is now a module-level condition openChannel
consults, and a channel opened inside the grace window re-arms it.
Credentials and correctness:
- The service worker persisted every GET /api/* to durable Cache Storage,
including /api/settings with daemonToken, githubAuthToken, gitlabAuthToken
and ntfyAccessToken in plaintext, with no exclusion and no purge path --
"Clear all cached data" only walked localStorage. Now gated, bounded, and
genuinely purgeable.
- useTasks cleared its own snapshot when the mount revalidation failed on a
waking radio, so the board blanked and the next restore was empty too.
Suspension-class failures no longer destroy the cache.
- A single-row SSE update reset lastFetchTimeMs to now while an hours-old
hydrated snapshot was on screen, re-marking every in-progress card stuck.
- ListView's "Select all visible tasks" acted on the full filtered set while
only 50 rows rendered, so a bulk delete reached rows the operator could not
see. Column's search window reset keyed on a boolean, so refining a query
kept the expanded window.
Tests that could not fail:
- App.test.tsx mocked TerminalModal as isOpen ? <div/> : null, making the
unmount-on-close invariant unobservable; MockEventSource kept its listeners
after close(), so cases passed with their onReconnect handlers deleted.
- The SSE resync ratchet scanned only hooks/, exempting ~13 component call
sites -- the exact regression it exists to prevent.
- MissionControlPanel's bespoke poll and the xterm scrollback constants and
WebGL disposal had no coverage at all.
Verified: tsc -p tsconfig.app.json clean, pnpm lint clean, pnpm
check:changesets clean, 877 tests passing across 36 scoped files.
Known unrelated red: MailboxView.test.tsx's FN-8407 CSS guard fails at HEAD
too -- this diff adds no @media rule and no .mailbox-view--mobile selector,
the only two things that assertion inspects. Left alone deliberately.

Fixes the workflow editor's fullscreen prompt overlay having an inert-looking mobile Expand button because a static z-index of 10000 sat below the mobile workflow editor's full-screen FloatingWindow sheet (10100+ shared floating-stack band).
- Have the fullscreen prompt overlay claim a fresh shared floating-stack z-index via nextFloatingZ() when opened, instead of relying on the static CSS z-index: 10000 fallback
- Track the claimed z-index in new promptFullscreenZ state, applying it as an inline style on the portaled overlay and clearing it on collapse/Escape
- Update FNXC comments in WorkflowNodeEditor.css and floatingWindowStack.ts documenting the shared z-index contract and why the static value is now only a fallback
- Add regression tests asserting the prompt fullscreen overlay's z-index exceeds the workflow editor's floating window z-index on desktop, mobile prompt nodes, mobile gate nodes, and after re-opening after collapse

Lifecycle warnings now recompute client-side from the live graph for
editable workflows, so the banner reflects edits immediately instead of
waiting for a save round-trip. The two deterministically fixable codes gain
one-click fixes in the banner (all view modes):
- missing-merge-region inserts a Merge boundary in front of end;
- missing-completion-summary inserts the canonical completion-summary node
(config from @fusion/core's completionSummaryNode) upstream of the merge
region when one exists, else in front of end.
"Fix all" on the collapsed summary line applies both in order, producing
start → summary → merge → end on a fresh workflow in one click. The other
three codes are structural judgment calls and stay manual.
analyzeWorkflowLifecycle + completionSummaryNode are pure and now re-export
through core's browser-safe types.ts alias entry.

- fix: edge-targeted fragment and "insert as optional group" picks from the
add-step dialog now splice the inserted subgraph into the targeted edge
(entries inherit the original routing condition, exits feed the old
target, subgraph moves into the source's column band) instead of dropping
disconnected fixed-position nodes (Greptile P1).
- feat: the lifecycle warnings banner is now a one-line collapsible
disclosure (count summary, details on expand) so it no longer dominates
the editor header.

Switching or creating a workflow could leave the simplified canvas fitted to
the previous graph's bounds (an apparently empty canvas after New workflow).
Keying the canvas's ReactFlowProvider on the workflow id forces a fresh
measure + initial fitView per workflow; the in-place refit still handles
inserts/deletes within one workflow.

Adds a simplified graphical node editor as the workflow editor's default
view: a modern vertical auto-laid-out React Flow canvas with insert-on-edge
"+" affordances and a searchable, categorized add-step dialog (node kinds +
fragments + step templates). A segmented Simple/Advanced/List switch
(persisted in localStorage) keeps the full advanced canvas untouched and
retains the old compact row editor as the List fallback. Mobile's graph tab
gains the touch-friendly simplified canvas with the row list as fallback.

Adds a discoverable built-in Brainstorming workflow composing the ask-user + exit-gate reach-out loop ahead of the standard coding plan/execute/review/merge spine, plus a WorkflowNodeEditor fix so clearing the ask-user question textarea deletes the config key instead of persisting an empty string.
- Add packages/core/src/builtin-brainstorming-workflow-ir.ts registering builtin:brainstorming (non-default, default-enabled): ask-user -> refine prompt -> exit-gate-on-approval ahead of the unmodified Coding plan/execute/review/merge spine
- Wire the new builtin into packages/core/src/builtin-workflows.ts and extend the builtin-workflows parity test suite
- Add builtin-brainstorming-workflow-ir.test.ts covering the new workflow's IR shape and validation
- Fix WorkflowNodeEditor.tsx ask-user question textarea onChange to delete the config.question key when cleared to empty (validateAskUserAndExitGateNodes rejects present-but-empty question; only an absent key falls back to the engine default)
- Update docs/workflow-steps.md to document builtin:brainstorming as a selectable built-in composition
- Add .changeset/fn-7584-brainstorming-builtin.md (minor, feature)

Add workflow nodes for mid-flow user reach-out and early exit from a workflow run.
- Add `ask-user` IR node kind that reuses the await-input park/resume mechanism and surfaces the question in the task chat for brainstorming/clarification.
- Add `exit-gate` IR node kind that terminates the workflow early, with an optional condition.
- Wire both node kinds through the engine executor and workflow-node-handlers, including a new exit-gate-runner.
- Update the WorkflowNodeEditor palette, node summaries, and node help text for the two new node types.
- Extend workflow-flow-mapping to support the new node kinds.
- Keep `prompt`+`awaitInput` as a back-compat alias.
- Add core/engine/dashboard tests covering the new node kinds.
- Document the new nodes in docs/workflow-steps.md.
- Add changeset for the new minor feature.

The step execution engine was already gone (runWorkflowSteps deleted,
workflow_steps table dropped in migration 132). This removes what remained:
the linear step compiler (compileWorkflowToSteps/validateLinearity/
WorkflowCompileError), which survived only as a validator + step-preview
generator.
parseWorkflowIr/validateV2 (which accepts branching graphs) is now the sole
workflow validity gate at save/select/refine and in the graph task runner.
Custom branching workflows are now selectable and run on the graph
interpreter instead of being rejected as non-linear.
- core: delete workflow-compiler.ts; rework store.validateWorkflowCompilable
onto parseWorkflowIr; move MERGE_REGION_NODE_KINDS into
workflow-lifecycle-validation; retag workflow-steps-to-ir as legacy lowering
- engine: drop the compiler double-validation in workflow-graph-task-runner
- dashboard: remove POST /api/workflows/:id/compile + client wrapper; drop the
interpreterOnly response field and editor banner; no post-save compile check
- i18n: remove the orphaned workflowNodes.interpreterOnly key across locales
- tests: reframe two workflow-selection tests whose premise inverted; fix a
pre-existing red in builtin-lead-generation (completion-summary node)

Final cutover — nothing reads workflow_steps at runtime, so migration 131 drops it.
- Removed the merger post-merge execution path entirely (runPostMergeWorkflowSteps,
hasEnabledPostMergeWorkflowSteps, executePostMerge{Prompt,Script}Step, post-merge
worktree helpers + call site). Graph owns post-merge.
- Executor recovery no longer reads getWorkflowStep().gateMode; gate-ness comes from the
recorded WorkflowStepResult.status.
- Removed store CRUD (create/update/deleteWorkflowStep), materializeWorkflowSteps, and
migrateLegacyWorkflowSteps; selectTaskWorkflow now seeds default-on optional-group node
ids (consistent with create-time). KEPT the plugin step-template palette (getWorkflowStep
plugin-only resolver / listWorkflowSteps plugin-only) — never touches the table.
Removed the dashboard migrate-legacy-steps route + editor migration UI.
- SCHEMA_VERSION 130→131; migration 131 DROP TABLE IF EXISTS workflow_steps; SCHEMA_SQL
table def removed; historical migrations 77/105/109/130 guarded with tableExists().
Proof nothing stranded: the graph executes IR nodes resolved from workflowId (never
stepIds/compiled rows) — materializeWorkflowSteps writes were vestigial. Full @fusion/core
suite (6290), reliability backstop (154), boot smoke, and a seed-at-130 drop test all pass
with the table gone.

- New built-in task views: workflows, import-tasks, automations (left-sidebar destinations rendering in the main content area).
- WorkflowNodeEditor, GitHubImportModal, and ScheduledTasksModal gain a presentation=embedded mode (inline, no overlay/close, modal-only behaviors disabled). Automations embedded view uses a Command Center-style header and a responsive two-pane (list + detail) layout when wide enough.
- Left sidebar adds Workflows, Import Tasks, Automations entries; renderMainContent renders the embedded views.
- Remove github-import and automation from the right dock; hide the desktop Header Workflow button when the left sidebar owns Workflows. Mobile overflow keeps the modal entry points unchanged.

Optional steps are now graph-native optional-group nodes, so the dead
declaration model is removed: the WorkflowOptionalStep type + WorkflowIrV2
.optionalSteps field + validateOptionalSteps (core), and the editor's
declaration AUTHORING surface — WorkflowOptionalStepsPanel, optionalStepsOf,
and the flowToIr/serializeGraph optionalSteps threading (dashboard). A legacy
persisted optionalSteps key is tolerated (ignored) at parse. The per-task
TOGGLE surfaces (dropdown, inline card, modal, Workflow tab) are unchanged —
they consume ResolvedWorkflowOptionalStep, which stays. The workflow-step seam
infrastructure removal remains a separate documented follow-up.

Surface all seven WORKFLOW_STEP_TEMPLATES add-ons in the editor's Built-in steps
palette with two insert variants: as a single node (existing stepTemplateToNode)
and as an optional-group-wrapped subgraph (optionalGroupFragmentIr + the existing
insertFragment path, which already expands optional-group children). Also update
the cross-package built-in failure-edge parity assertion for U6's
workflow-step -> browser-verification optional-group migration.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Render and author optional-group as a third group-container kind beside
foreach/loop: register the node type (OptionalGroupNode) so it renders with a
header + defaultOn badge and parentId template children, treat it as a group
everywhere in workflow-flow-mapping (irToFlow children, flowToIr template
reassembly, cascade-delete, condition-editable), add a palette entry, and an
inspector defaultOn toggle. Includes a node-help entry and round-trip / toggle /
cascade-delete tests.

Add a per-node Help section to the workflow editor's node detail pane:
description, configuration, inputs, outputs, and edges for every node
kind. Keys off the effective kind (preserved IR kind) so graph-only
policy nodes — auto-merge gate, branch-group member integration /
promotion, PR and recovery nodes — get specific help instead of reading
as a generic merge/gate/hold, and are flagged "Engine-managed".

- Dropdown: aria-multiselectable, drop dead aria-labelledby, ArrowUp opens panel
- Dirty-state: NewTaskModal tracks enabledWorkflowSteps so toggles trigger discard prompt
- TaskForm: reset optionalStepsLoading on the no-workflow early return
- Node editor: pass plugin step templates into the optional-steps panel (both layouts)
- FNXC requirement comments on the new optional-steps components
New WorkflowOptionalStepsPanel (sibling to Fields/Settings) lets authors
add/remove optional steps and set each one's defaultOn, with unknown ids
shown as muted removable rows. Wire optionalSteps state through both load
paths (incl. the fragment path, which also dropped settings), every
flowToIr/serializeGraph call site, and the save handler deps — fixing a
stale-closure that dropped defaultOn edits on save. Extract the shared
phaseBadge helper. Mobile gets an Optional steps tab too.
The dashboard's discovered-skills catalog was built only from the
disk-scanning package manager, so plugin-contributed skills (e.g.
compound-engineering ce-*) — which the engine materializes for executor
sessions separately — never appeared in the editor. Built-in workflow
nodes that reference them (builtin:compound-engineering) showed
"— select skill —" / unresolved.
- skills-adapter: merge plugin skill contributions into the discovered
list (deduped by bare name) via an optional getPluginSkills thunk;
add shared bareSkillName normalizer.
- wire getPluginSkills into all three server entry points: serve,
daemon, and dashboard (the UI-serving command — verified via live
end-to-end that omitting it left the editor catalog empty).
- node-summary + WorkflowNodeEditor: resolve namespaced skillNames
(compound-engineering:ce-work) against the catalog's two-segment
names (ce-work/SKILL.md) so nodes display and select the right skill.
Verified: dashboard + CLI typecheck, 136 dashboard tests, and a live
dashboard E2E (discovered skills 0→11; Plan node resolves to "ce-plan"
in both the canvas label and the inspector dropdown).

Rescue the WorkflowNodeEditor quarantine by making duplicate merge seam detection reliable during initial canvas load.
- Derive fragment seam conflicts from the loaded workflow IR until React Flow nodes materialize.
- Treat IR merge nodes as merge seams so duplicate merge fragments are rejected consistently.
- Cover desktop and mobile duplicate merge fragment insertion paths and remove the test from quarantine.
- Document the FN-6744 rescue evidence and deletion-ratchet update.
