86a749cac9 fix(ci): disable package-manager-cache on skip-install setup-node
actions/setup-node@v5 defaults package-manager-cache:true, so the agent-browser
pack fixture still registered a pnpm store path and failed post-job with Path
Validation Error after a successful pack/upload. Explicitly set
package-manager-cache:false when skip-install is true.

6e416b044d chore(deps): bump actions/download-artifact from 4 to 8 (#3304)
Bumps
[actions/download-artifact](https://github.com/actions/download-artifact)
from 4 to 8.
<details>
<summary>Release notes</summary>
<p><em>Sourced from <a
href="https://github.com/actions/download-artifact/releases">actions/download-artifact's
releases</a>.</em></p>
<blockquote>
<h2>v8.0.0</h2>
<h2>v8 - What's new</h2>
<blockquote>
<p>[!IMPORTANT]
actions/download-artifact@v8 has been migrated to an ESM module. This
should be transparent to the caller but forks might need to make
significant changes.</p>
</blockquote>
<blockquote>
<p>[!IMPORTANT]
Hash mismatches will now error by default. Users can override this
behavior with a setting change (see below).</p>
</blockquote>
<h3>Direct downloads</h3>
<p>To support direct uploads in <code>actions/upload-artifact</code>,
the action will no longer attempt to unzip all downloaded files.
Instead, the action checks the <code>Content-Type</code> header ahead of
unzipping and skips non-zipped files. Callers wishing to download a
zipped file as-is can also set the new <code>skip-decompress</code>
parameter to <code>true</code>.</p>
<h3>Enforced checks (breaking)</h3>
<p>A previous release introduced digest checks on the download. If a
download hash didn't match the expected hash from the server, the action
would log a warning. Callers can now configure the behavior on mismatch
with the <code>digest-mismatch</code> parameter. To be secure by
default, we are now defaulting the behavior to <code>error</code> which
will fail the workflow run.</p>
<h3>ESM</h3>
<p>To support new versions of the @actions/* packages, we've upgraded
the package to ESM.</p>
<h2>What's Changed</h2>
<ul>
<li>Don't attempt to un-zip non-zipped downloads by <a

<h2>v7.0.0</h2>
<h2>v7 - What's new</h2>
<blockquote>
<p>[!IMPORTANT]
actions/download-artifact@v7 now runs on Node.js 24 (<code>runs.using:
node24</code>) and requires a minimum Actions Runner version of 2.327.1.
If you are using self-hosted runners, ensure they are updated before
upgrading.</p>
</blockquote>
<h3>Node.js 24</h3>
<p>This release updates the runtime to Node.js 24. v6 had preliminary
support for Node 24, however this action was by default still running on
Node.js 20. Now this action by default will run on Node.js 24.</p>

4e2f52ce8f feat(gate): ratchet move-target literals at zero — #3150's population had nothing holding it (#3246)
Closes the gap I flagged when re-measuring #3150: that population is at
**0**, and nothing was holding it there.

## Why this surface has no gate today

The lifecycle census parses **comparisons**. A move destination is a
call **argument**:

```ts
await store.moveTask(id, "in-review");   // never counted by anything
```

#3150 measured 31 of these across four files. They are now 0 — I
verified that on current main before writing this — but the comparison
backlog drifted **787 → 854** during the window its own ratchet was
unwired, and this population never had one.

## The failure mode is louder than the guards'

A wrong lane **guard** silently answers "no". A wrong move **target** is
rejected by `moveTaskInternal` with `TransitionRejectionError:
unknown-column` — so on a board that renamed its review lane, every task
finishing implementation **threw** instead of reaching review. Loud at
runtime, invisible to any test on the default board.

## AST, not grep — and that is measured, not stylistic

| scan | result |
|---|---|
| comment-naive grep of `self-healing.ts` | 1 hit — **JSDoc prose**: `*
could call moveTask("in-review")` |
| #3150's own SQL survey by grep | 37 hits against **12** real sites (25
comments) |

Comments are not AST nodes, so that false-positive class cannot occur
here in either direction.

## Controls — all four run, because a gate that only reports 0 proves
nothing

| probe | expected | got |
|---|---|---|
| real `moveTask(id, "in-review")` injected | fail | **exit 1**, names
the file |
| identical call as JSDoc prose | pass | **exit 0** (AST ignores
comments) |
| legacy target + leading `DELIBERATE-LITERAL` | pass | **exit 0**
(marker honored) |
| probe removed | pass | **exit 0** |

The third is the #1411 `recoveryRehome` safe-landing path, where the
legacy id genuinely *is* the target. Marker must be **leading** — the
census already learned that an inline marker attaches to the wrong node
and is silently ignored.

## Ratchet semantics match the census

Fails on a **drop** as well as a rise. A stale allowance is a hole a
re-added target can return through while the gate stays green — exactly
what let the comparison baseline drift.

## Measured

| check | result |
|---|---|
| this gate | scans **1816** files, reports **0** |
| `check:lifecycle-columns` / `check:sql-column-literals` | 0 / 0 |
| `check:fnxc-future-dates` / `check:lane-wiring` | 0 / 0 |
| eslint / `pnpm test:gate` | clean / exit 0 |

Wired into `pr-checks.yml` beside the sibling ratchets, named to match
("Move-target ratchet").

## Scope

Gate only — **no production code touched**, and no conversions in this
PR. The population was already empty; this makes "31 → 0" an invariant
instead of a snapshot, which is the caveat I attached when recommending
#3150 for closure.

bc37185026 gate: enforce the quarantine deletion ratchet — nothing ran it, and it could not fail (#3167)
## A policy with nothing enforcing it

AGENTS.md states the deletion ratchet plainly:

> A quarantined test is **DELETED after 14 days** (`quarantinedAt` + 2
weeks) unless rescued.

Nothing enforced it, and it failed in two independent ways:

1. **`check:quarantine-ledger` omitted `--strict`.** The script only
exits non-zero with that flag (`check-quarantine-ledger.mjs:197`:
`return args.strict && (summary.expired > 0 || summary.near > 0) ? 1 :
0`). Without it, it is a report that always exits 0.
2. **No workflow ran it.** I audited all 12 `check:*` scripts against
`pr-checks.yml` and `full-suite.yml`: this is the only one appearing in
neither.

Either alone would have made it toothless. Together, a quarantined test
could sit past its deletion date indefinitely with every gate green.

## This exact shape is already documented in the file I edited

The comment above the lifecycle-column ratchet in `pr-checks.yml` says:

> `pnpm census:lifecycle-columns` (no `--strict`) and nothing ran it, so
three PRs lowered counts without re-recording and left allowances the
deleted guards could return through while this gate stayed green.

Script supports enforcement → package script omits the flag → no
workflow runs it. Same three steps, different ratchet. That precedent is
why I went looking.

## What changed

- `check:quarantine-ledger` now passes `--strict`
- wired into `pr-checks.yml` beside its siblings

It fires **5 days before** the deadline, not after, so the response is
still delete-or-rescue rather than an overdue entry. That window is the
script author's design; I did not invent it.

## Mutation evidence

Against a temp ledger, real one restored after:

| Ledger state | Result |
|---|---|
| today (1 entry, 13 days remaining) | exit 0 |
| entry inside the 5-day near window | **exit 1** |
| entry 6 days past deadline | **exit 1**, reports `EXPIRED (6 days
overdue)` |
| real ledger restored | exit 0 |

Without `--strict` all four exit 0 — which is the state on `main`.

## Honest note on what this will do

This is a **deadline ratchet**: it fires on a timer by design. The
current entry (`useTasks-hydration-freshness.test.ts`, deadline
2026-08-13) will trip it on **2026-08-08** unless someone deletes or
rescues it first. That is the intended behaviour and the whole point —
AGENTS.md is explicit that rescue "requires evidence the test catches
real regressions plus a root-cause fix — not stabilization passes." A
gate that never fires enforces nothing.

## Census before / after

```
before:  COLUMN guards (the backlog):   13
after:   COLUMN guards (the backlog):   13
```

Unchanged — this touches no lifecycle guard. It is gate wiring.

## Verification

`test:gate` exit 0 · `check:quarantine-ledger --strict` exit 0 on the
real ledger · both failure arms mutation-verified · ledger file restored
byte-for-byte.

a460a9bbc0 fix(plugins,dashboard): the dependency graph drew every card with the LEGACY lane vocabulary (#3029)
## The third producer of unflagged cards — the one a host-side fix could
not reach

#3025 fixed the two producers that go through `renderTaskCard`.
`GraphTaskNode` is a third: it imports `TaskCard` **directly** through
the plugin's interop shim, so that fix bypassed it and every role helper
inside a graph card kept reading the legacy ids.

The same component also called the stuck predicate without its flags:

```ts
const isStuck = isTaskStuck(task, taskStuckTimeoutMs, lastFetchTimeMs);   // no columnFlags
```

so `isWipColumnRole` fell back to the literal and **no card in the graph
could ever be stuck on a renamed board**. Because `isStuck` gates
`isActive`, a wedged card rendered with the **active** styling — the
graph reported *"running"* about a task that had not moved in hours,
while the main board showed the same card as stuck.

That asymmetry between two views of one task is the defect, and it is
what the new test pins.

## One cause, so one fix

Both symptoms came from the same gap: `PluginDashboardViewContext`
exposed `tasks` and nothing about the board's vocabulary. It now carries
`columnFlagsByTaskId` — the same per-task map `renderTaskCard` already
uses, **two lines away in the same object literal**.

## I filed this twice as blocked on a public-API change. It was not.

```
packages/dashboard                        @fusion/dashboard                        private: true
packages/plugin-sdk                       @fusion/plugin-sdk                       private: true
plugins/fusion-plugin-dependency-graph    @fusion-plugin-examples/dependency-graph private: true
```

No published surface anywhere in the path — three in-repo private
packages and a hand-written `.d.ts`. **#3026 landed the general form of
that mistake while I was still making it**: a deferral's stated blocker
is a claim, and mine decayed unchecked until I finally measured it.

## Two type decisions worth reviewing

- **`Partial<TraitFlags>`** in the plugin-facing type, not the
dashboard's `ExecutorColumnFlags` — that module's own header restricts
it to `@fusion/core` and `react` imports so external plugin builds can
consume it. Same runtime object either way.
- **`MainContentProps.columnFlagsByTaskId` widened** from `{complete,
archived, intake, hold}` to the flags the map really carries. It is
built from `workflow.columns.find(...).flags`, so the four-flag
declaration was a narrower view than the value — and `countsTowardWip`,
which every wip predicate needs, was invisible through it. That narrow
type is why threading this looked impossible at first.

Absent still means legacy, matching how the host treats remote rows and
off-board columns: the degraded answer is the documented literal, never
*"this board has no wip lane"*.

## Revert proof

Dropping the 4th argument:

```
AssertionError: expected 'graph-task-node graph-task-node--acti…' not to contain 'graph-task-node--active'
      Tests  1 failed | 26 passed (27)
```

The paired case (a fresh legacy `in-progress` card still reads active)
passes both ways by design — it guards against over-detection, so I am
not counting it as coverage.

The gate agrees independently:
`plugins/fusion-plugin-dependency-graph/src/GraphTaskNode.tsx: 1 -> 0`,
baseline re-recorded 16 → 15 in the same commit.

## Verification (measured)

- plugin suite — **185 passed / 20 files**
- dashboard `dashboard/` + `plugins/` suites — **48 passed / 6 files**
- `tsc --noEmit` clean in both packages; `pnpm lint` clean
- `lifecycle-column-census --strict`, `check-lane-wiring` (15, none
added), `check-sql-column-literals`, `check-inert-flag-seams`,
`check-fnxc-future-dates` — green

No changeset: all three packages are `private: true`.

19deb42170 gate: ratchet call sites that never receive the lane answer (#2966)
**This is the gap that let three defects reach `main` in one day.**

`unwired-lane-parameter.mjs` catches a parameter that reaches **no**
caller. It is deliberately satisfied by a mention *anywhere*, so
**partial** wiring is invisible to it:

| | |
| --- | --- |
| #2956 | `getInReviewStallReason` wired at **0 of 4** call sites while
both siblings were wired |
| #2963 | both merge entry points unwired — merging was **impossible**
on a renamed board |
| #2964 | merge-confirmed finalization unwired — **already-landed work
parked `failed`** |

Every one was a fix that added an optional parameter without the
call-site sweep that has to follow it. The existing guard was green
throughout, correctly by its own contract.

## A census, not a guard — and that distinction is the whole design

Auditing the sites this finds showed **four of seven were legitimately
unwired**: `skipColumnIdentityCheck` callers have already proven lane
identity by a stronger means, a sentinel-column caller wants the
identity check satisfied by construction, and a dead export has no
caller to wire at all.

A check that failed on those is ~57% false positives. The sibling
guard's own header says why that is worse than a miss — *"it teaches
people to disable the check"* — and I agree, so this does not do it.

Instead it ratchets like the lifecycle census: **36 known unwired sites
across 20 files**, allowed to shrink and not to grow. A new unwired
caller raises the count and fails; wiring one lowers it and re-records.
The recurrence — adding a caller that forgets the lane answer — is
precisely what gets caught, and the legitimate sites cost one baseline
line each instead of a permanently red gate.

## Detection is AST-based, deliberately

It finds exported functions accepting a lane-named argument — directly
*or* as an options-bag member — then finds call sites passing none of
them.

Not regex: the ad-hoc scan I used during the audit produced false
negatives on multi-line calls, which is exactly how a caller gets missed
in the first place. Using a heuristic to police a defect caused by a
heuristic seemed like a poor trade.

## Verified to fail on the recurrence

A ratchet that cannot fail is worse than none, so this was measured
rather than assumed. Injecting one new unwired caller into
`self-healing.ts`:

```
[check-lane-wiring] call sites not passing a resolved lane argument INCREASED:
  packages/engine/src/self-healing.ts: 9 unwired now, baseline allows 8
```

exit 1, naming the file and the delta.

## Placement

Runs as a named `check:lane-wiring` step in `pr-checks.yml` beside the
lifecycle, SQL, inert-seam and FNXC ratchets — same convention, same
failure ergonomics, ~1s.

Note the baseline records today's state, which still includes the
#2963/#2964 sites because those fixes have not merged yet. When they
land the count drops and the baseline is re-recorded downward — the
ratchet working as intended rather than a conflict.

## Verification

`pnpm test:gate` 161 + 487 + 13 + 71; `tsc` engine clean; lint,
lifecycle census `--strict`, FNXC gate, and the new check all clean.

b8e5d42b7a chore(gate): move the FNXC date ratchet beside its three siblings (#2952)
The half that #2948 and #2950 did not cover. Both of those fixed today's
redness; **#2949** landed the un-redding first, so both are now
conflicting and redundant. This is the placement, which is what made
today's failure so expensive.

## Why it hurt

`check-fnxc-future-dates` was wired into `pretest` **and** `test:gate`,
with no `check:*` script and no `pr-checks.yml` step. So a baseline
frozen below the tree it froze did not produce "one CI step is red" — it
produced:

- `pnpm test:gate` → exit 1, merge gate down for everyone
- `pnpm test` → refuses to run before a single test executes

## The precedent

All three sibling ratchets are dedicated `pr-checks.yml` steps.
`lifecycle-column-census` always has been; `check-sql-column-literals`
and `check-inert-flag-seams` moved there in #2941. The census's own
header states the reason, and it is the one that matters here:

> a permanently-red gate is a bigger hole than a stale allowance,
because it gets ignored and then nothing is guarded at all

## The change

```
check:fnxc-future-dates          script, beside check:inert-flag-seams
"FNXC stamp dates"               step in pr-checks.yml, after the other three
removed from                     pretest / pretest:full / test:gate
```

**Enforcement where it matters is unchanged** — `pr-checks.yml` is the
blocking gate, so a newly added future-dated stamp still cannot merge.
What changes is that a baseline mismatch stops halting work unrelated to
it.

## Deliberately not touching

The drop behaviour. This gate **already** tightens on a drop rather than
failing — the #2888 pattern, already correct here. I checked rather than
assuming it needed the same fix its siblings did.

## Verification

`pnpm check:fnxc-future-dates` exit 0 · `pnpm test:gate` green (now
without this check in it) · lint 0 · step confirmed adjacent to the
other three ratchets.

b1bd571682 batch-sql-ratchet: the census / gate-ratchet family — collection branch, fold here (#2941)
## Family branch for consolidation directive item 4

`batch-sql-ratchet` did not exist and ~10 open PRs are waiting for a
collection point, so this establishes it. **Fold your census/ratchet
commit here and close your own PR as superseded.**

```bash
git fetch origin batch-sql-ratchet
git checkout -B batch-sql-ratchet origin/batch-sql-ratchet
git cherry-pick <your-sha>
# verify scoped, not full suite:
pnpm --filter @fusion/core exec vitest run src/__tests__/archived-column-gate-parity.test.ts --silent=passed-only --reporter=dot
git push origin HEAD:batch-sql-ratchet
```

**Candidates I can see open right now** (owners: please fold + close):

| PR | branch |
|---|---|
| #2938 | `fix/comments-ops-sentinel` |
| #2935 | `fix/task-artifacts-sentinels` |
| #2933 | `chore/commit-tightened-census-baseline` |
| #2931 | `fix/async-comments-sentinels` |
| #2928 | `fix/audit-ops-sentinel-marker` |
| #2925 | `live-task-column-lanes` |
| #2923 | `fix/task-id-integrity-sentinel` |
| #2921 | `fix/plugin-store-migration-marker` |
| #2894 | `gate/sql-literals-match-census-placement` |

That is **10 → 1** once folded. I have not cherry-picked anyone else's
commits — folding someone's work without them verifying it is how a
batch lands broken.

---

## What is in it so far (mine, from #2924)

**Clears a live main red:** `archived-column-gate-parity` fails on
`origin/main` today.

```
AssertionError: TypeScript encoding changed.
  async-comments-attachments.ts: 8 → 5
```

#2886 fixed a real bug — archived-document guards failing in *opposite*
directions on a renamed lane — by replacing three `column ===
"archived"` comparisons with `isArchivedLane(column, archivedColumns)`.
The AST scan counts raw comparisons, so the tally dropped.

**What I did not do is record it as three sites converted**, because
measured, it is not:

```
grep -rn "archivedColumns:" packages/core/src packages/engine/src --include="*.ts" | grep -v __tests__
→ (no matches)
```

No caller passes it. The parameter defaults to `LEGACY_ARCHIVED_LANES =
new Set(["archived"])`, so every call resolves to the literal it
replaced — byte-identical behaviour, resolved branch dead.

That matters for this guard's whole argument: its header warns that
converting the TypeScript half while the Drizzle and raw-`sql` halves
still compare the string is a split brain *"no test would catch, because
every builtin workflow spells the column `archived` so the two halves
agree by accident on every board we ship."* **There is no split brain
today precisely because the resolved half is unwired** — it becomes one
the moment a caller threads real lanes in without the SQL sides moving.
Recorded inline so `5` cannot be read as "3 sites done"; flagged on
#2886.

Verified not a split brain: the Drizzle and raw-sql inventories are
unchanged and both pass — worth stating because those assertions run
*after* the TypeScript one, so a plain red says nothing about them.

Scoped edit to `AUDITED_TS_SITES` by line range: these paths appear in
more than one inventory here, and an unscoped replace would quietly edit
the raw-sql side too, making the parity guard agree with itself (the
trap I hit in #2817).

Guard still bites: appending a real `task.column === "archived"` to an
audited file fails it. Core **4852 passed / 0 failed**, lint clean,
test-only.

Closing #2924 as superseded by this.

2771408bba ci: enforce the lifecycle-column ratchet — it has never actually run (#2654)
**The ratchet was advisory.** `scripts/lifecycle-column-census.mjs`
existed only as `pnpm census:lifecycle-columns` — without `--strict` —
and **no workflow invoked it**. Nothing has ever compared the tree to
the baseline. Every "the baseline ratchet holds them" assumption in this
program rested on a check that does not run.

That explains both classes of hole:

**1. Three PRs lowered counts without re-recording,** leaving allowances
the deleted guards could return through while every check stayed green.
I've tightened them across #2593 and earlier PRs, but nothing stops the
next one.

**2. #2621 GREW the count while its own title claimed "count 0 → 0".**
It added `column === "triage"` and `column === "todo"` at
`register-task-workflow-routes.ts:2681`, taking that file to **23
against an allowance of 22**. It landed unchallenged. This is the
failure mode the ratchet exists to prevent, and it happened *inside this
program*, in a PR that asserted the opposite.

## The change

Adds `check:lifecycle-columns` (the census with `--strict`) to the
`pr-checks.yml` lint job, next to `check:changesets` and
`check:routes-modular` — the established pattern. **~1.8s over ~1950
files**, so this is not a slow-test addition.

## Proven to fail, in both directions

A guard that reports success without checking anything is worse than no
guard, so:

| injected defect | result |
|---|---|
| `const __probe = (c: string) => c === "triage"` added to `moves.ts` |
`count ROSE — moves.ts: 39 -> 40`, exit 1 |
| run against main's current baseline | exit 1 on
`mission-feature-sync.ts: allows 5, tree has 0` |

Both reverted; exit 0 restored. Note the second row: **this check is RED
on main right now**, which is the point.

## Merge order

**Stacked on #2593**, which carries the `DELIBERATE-LITERAL` marker for
the #2621 site (a v1 IR declares no roles, so no trait can answer that
question) plus the baseline re-record. Standalone on main this PR is red
— correctly. **Merge #2593 first**, then this.

I stacked rather than duplicating those two edits because I already
caused one conflict today by appending related content from two
branches, and #2651 merged a correction ahead of the section it
corrected. Same-content edits in two PRs is the same mistake.

## Census

Unchanged by this PR: **776 total, triage 5, reviewed 16** — it adds no
guards and converts none. It only makes the numbers enforceable.

## For the fleet

This should land before the 776-guard fleet launches. The brief says
"the baseline ratchet must shrink by exactly the converted count" —
until now nothing verified that claim, so a batch worker could report a
shrink that did not happen, or grow the count while converting, and CI
would agree.

<h2>v7 What's new</h2>
<h3>Direct Uploads</h3>
<p>Adds support for uploading single files directly (unzipped). Callers
can set the new <code>archive</code> parameter to <code>false</code> to
skip zipping the file during upload. Right now, we only support single
files. The action will fail if the glob passed resolves to multiple
files. The <code>name</code> parameter is also ignored with this
setting. Instead, the name of the artifact will be the name of the
uploaded file.</p>

<h2>v3.0.0</h2>
<p><code>3.0.0</code> is a major release that moves the action runtime
from Node 20 to Node 24.
Use <code>v3</code> on GitHub-hosted runners and self-hosted fleets that
already support the
Node 24 Actions runtime. If you still need the last Node 20-compatible
line, stay on
<code>v2.6.2</code>.</p>
<h2>What's Changed</h2>
<h3>Other Changes 🔄</h3>
<ul>
<li>Move the action runtime and bundle target to Node 24</li>
<li>Update <code>@types/node</code> to the Node 24 line and allow future
Dependabot updates</li>
<li>Keep the floating major tag on <code>v3</code>; <code>v2</code>
remains pinned to the latest <code>2.x</code> release</li>

<h2>v2.6.1</h2>
<p><code>2.6.1</code> is a patch release focused on restoring linked
discussion thread creation when
<code>discussion_category_name</code> is set. It fixes
<code>[#764](https://github.com/softprops/action-gh-release/issues/764)</code>,
where the draft-first publish flow
stopped carrying the discussion category through the final publish
step.</p>

<h2>v2.6.0</h2>
<p><code>2.6.0</code> is a minor release centered on
<code>previous_tag</code> support for
<code>generate_release_notes</code>,
which lets workflows pin GitHub's comparison base explicitly instead of
relying on the default range.
It also includes the recent concurrent asset upload recovery fix, a
<code>working_directory</code> docs sync,
a checked-bundle freshness guard for maintainers, and clearer
immutable-prerelease guidance where
GitHub platform behavior imposes constraints on how prerelease asset
uploads can be published.</p>

8b039a543e fix(desktop): advance Pi runtime pin to 0.82.1 for packaging PR lane (#2465)
## Summary
- Advance the matched Pi runtime pin (`pi-ai`, `pi-coding-agent`,
`pi-agent-core`, `pi-tui`) from **0.82.0 → 0.82.1** so
electron-builder's production-dependency walk accepts `pi-agent-core`'s
`pi-ai@^0.82.1` requirement.
- Fixes the Desktop packaging PR-lane failure:
`Production dependency @earendil-works/pi-ai not found for package
@earendil-works/pi-agent-core` (required `^0.82.1`).
- Keep the workspace override guard; update pin-policy fixtures and CLI
package-config expectations.
- Tighten the advisory packaging step-order test so it asserts against
the real `electron-builder --dir` step (not a missing release-only step
name that previously passed via `indexOf === -1`).
- Run `pnpm dedupe` so the packaging lane's lockfile dedupe
early-warning is clean.

## Context
#2439 pinned the full Pi closure at 0.82.0 and made recent main-based
packaging runs green. This advances to the current upstream patch so
deploy + electron-builder stay aligned with `pi-agent-core@0.82.1`'s
declared dependency range.

## Test plan
- [x] `node scripts/check-pi-versions-pinned.mjs`
- [x] `node --test scripts/__tests__/check-pi-versions-pinned.test.mjs`
- [x] `pnpm --filter @runfusion/fusion exec vitest run
src/__tests__/package-config.test.ts`
- [x] `pnpm --filter @fusion/desktop exec vitest run
src/__tests__/release-workflow.test.ts`
- [x] `pnpm dedupe --check`
- [ ] GitHub: Desktop packaging (should run full packaging walk —
lockfile/package.json touched)
- [ ] GitHub: PR Checks (Lint, Typecheck, Build, Gate)

f1a202916f chore(deps): add .github/dependabot.yml (#2435)
Adds `.github/dependabot.yml` so GitHub automatically opens PRs for
outdated dependencies on a weekly cadence. Covers both the primary
package ecosystem and GitHub Actions workflows.

The PR limit is set to 5 to avoid noise. Feel free to adjust or drop
either ecosystem.

c5e9a7956a fix(ci): stop watchdog false-kills of the grown core slice; actually upload timing artifacts
- Shard watchdog floor 25min (was 15): the July PG-cutover test growth pushed
  @fusion/core past 900s on contended CI runners; run 30075604930 killed a
  healthy core run at exactly the floor because the 27-day-old (still "fresh")
  undercounting timings snapshot tightened the budget to it — the same
  false-kill class as the 5->15min raise. Floor pin + in-band example updated.
- full-suite.yml timing upload: include-hidden-files — the .timings/ dot-dirs
  were silently excluded by upload-artifact@v4, so the step has uploaded
  nothing since it was added and the snapshot could never be refreshed from CI.

da0d73c853 fix(release): give desktop closure staging 30min in bun binary builds
The CLI full-package build's nested @fusion/desktop build stages the
production closure via pnpm deploy (~1300+ packages); on cold-store macOS
release runners that exceeded runWorkspaceCommand's default 10-minute
timeout and killed every v0.73.0-beta.* bun-darwin-arm64 release leg with
exit 143. Raise the desktop sub-build budget to 30 minutes and widen the
build-binaries job timeout to 45 minutes to match.

b007de5f94 fix(ci,tests): repair binary release pipeline and re-green the full suite
Binary Release (v0.73.0-beta.5 was fully red):
- bun compile: mark chromium-bidi external — playwright-core@1.60 (feature-video)
  optionally requires it and bun fails closed on unresolvable requires.
- Windows desktop EXE: quote -c.publish.channel=beta in release.yml; PowerShell
  tokenizes the bare flag into `-c` + a path and electron-builder ENOENTs on it.

Full suite (all 4 shards red from stale-test drift, no product bugs found):
- engine: align mock stores/assertions with atomic store.moveTaskIf dispatch
  (#2371), the fail-closed non-empty PROMPT.md artifact gate (#2390), oldest-
  first admission (FN-8453), alreadyClaimed graph routing (#2393), startStep
  step projection (#2403/FN-8464), structured retry presentation (FN-8503),
  provider-lane pause reasons (#2339), typed column-boundary entry (#2378),
  Type.Integer in CAS document schemas (#2375), bounded model-registry refresh.
- engine-no-blocking-shellout: re-pin 17 drifted allowlist line numbers and drop
  the stale REBASE_HEAD entry whose execSync was removed.

11fab37379 feat(ci): incremental caching for the PR merge-gate jobs (Gate, Build, Typecheck) (#2421)
## Summary

Every PR's blocking checks were dominated by redundant full rebuilds,
not by tests. Measured on recent runs: the Gate job spent ~6 of its ~7.5
min on a cold `pnpm build` (the exact-key dist cache missed on virtually
every PR) for ~45s of actual boot smoke + gate tests; Build ran ~8 min
and Typecheck ~4 min, both fully cold every time. Expected end state
once the warm job has run on main: all four blocking checks in roughly
2–4 min wall-clock.

### Gate job
- New `gate-dist-*` cache namespace with `restore-keys`, additionally
caching `.fusion/cache/plugin-build-cache.json` (build-workspace's
per-package content-hash skip cache) and `packages/cli/dist`. The
always-run `pnpm build` reconciles a near-match restore by content hash
and rebuilds only the packages the PR touched. This is safe *because*
the gate builds after restoring — the shard jobs' "no restore-keys" rule
(FN-4232/FN-4605 stale-dist incidents) still stands there, since they
consume dist without building.
- `FUSION_CLI_FULL_PACKAGE=0` on the gate build: skips the multi-minute
CLI desktop/plugins/DTS packaging tail nothing in the gate consumes
(same shape `pnpm verify:fast` proves locally). Full CLI packaging
coverage stays blocking in the Build job.

### Build job
- Restore-only tap (`actions/cache/restore`) of the same warmed cache.
Restore-only because this job runs FULL CLI packaging (`CI=true`) and
saving that shape would swap the cache's canonical fast-CLI contents out
from under the Gate job. Its distinctive coverage is preserved:
`ensureFullPackageCliPlanned` force-plans the CLI in full mode
regardless of cache state.

### Typecheck job
- Caches per-package tsc incremental buildinfo — self-validating (tsc
hashes every input against it and re-checks whatever changed), so
`restore-keys` is correctness-neutral by construction.
- **Fixes a real incrementality bug:** `tsconfig.json` and
`tsconfig.app.json` in the dashboard both inherited
`${configDir}/dist/.tsbuildinfo` from `tsconfig.base.json`, so the two
typecheck programs clobbered each other's buildinfo and re-checked the
full program every run — incremental typechecking never worked for the
dashboard, in CI or locally. `tsconfig.app.json` now writes
`dist/.tsbuildinfo-app`. Measured: dashboard typecheck 44s cold → 5.6s
warm.

### Warm job (full-suite.yml, push to main)
- New `warm-gate-build-cache` job saves both caches from main on every
push. Caches saved on a PR merge ref are invisible to other PRs, so
without this every PR's *first* run would still build/check cold.

## Guardrails

`ci-workflow.test.ts` pins the coupled invariants so they can't drift
apart silently:
- restore-keys requires the reconciling `pnpm build` after restore,
before boot smoke
- the mtime-defeating seed step stays exact-hit-only
- byte-identical cache path lists between the Gate/Build/warm blocks
(actions/cache versions caches by path list — a drifted list makes
caches mutually invisible)
- Build stays restore-only and must NOT opt out of full CLI packaging
- Typecheck cache shape + the distinct dashboard app buildinfo path

## Notes

- First PR runs after this lands still build cold until the warm job has
run once on main.
- No changeset: CI config + test-only per AGENTS.md.

## Verification

- `ci-workflow.test.ts` + `package-config.test.ts`: 106 tests pass
- Dashboard typecheck run twice locally: 44s cold → 5.6s warm, both
`.tsbuildinfo` and `.tsbuildinfo-app` written, exit 0
- Cache block path/key parity verified programmatically across both
workflow files

2f014f5c0c fix(cli): install agent-browser across Windows, Linux, and macOS (#2405)
## Summary

Fusion npm installs now expose a working `agent-browser` command on
Windows, Linux, and macOS. Fusion publishes a top-level shim backed by
the exact pinned native package, preserving the existing Browser
Verification probe contract on every supported desktop OS.

## Validation

- Added a packed consumer-install matrix for `ubuntu-latest`,
`macos-latest`, and `windows-latest`.
- Each platform executes npm's generated shim, verifies `agent-browser
0.26.0`, and asserts the matching native binary is installed.
- Confirmed the packed Fusion manifest, installed dependency, and
command output all retain the exact declared version pin.
- Passed 101 focused CLI workflow/package tests, full workspace lint and
typecheck, strict changeset validation, and a real macOS ARM64
packed-install smoke.

## Post-Deploy Monitoring & Validation

- Search task logs for `agent-browser not found on PATH`, `Missing
native executable`, and Browser Verification availability warnings.
- Healthy signal: npm installs on Windows, Linux, and macOS resolve
`agent-browser --version` without missing-shim or native-payload errors.
- Failure signal: command resolution errors, version-pin mismatches,
missing native payloads, or increased browser-verification fast-bails.
- Validation window: first release cycle after publish; owner: Fusion
maintainers.
- Mitigation: revert the dependency and top-level shim if install
compatibility regresses.

2302fb8a3d feat: add beta/stable release tracks with switchable update channel (#2345)
## Summary

Fusion can now ship on two release tracks. Betas are cut from `main` as
`vX.Y.Z-beta.N` (npm dist-tag `beta`, GitHub prerelease), stable
releases are promoted to a long-lived `release` branch and published to
`latest`, and users pick their track with the new `updateChannel` global
setting — via **Settings → General → Release channel** or `fn update
--channel <stable|beta>`. Previously everything was single-track: every
publish landed on `latest` and every update surface could only see it.

| | beta | stable |
|---|---|---|
| Cut from | `main` | `release` branch |
| Version | `X.Y.Z-beta.N` (changesets pre-mode) | `X.Y.Z` |
| npm dist-tag | `beta` | `latest` |
| GitHub Release | prerelease | latest |
| Homebrew tap / X draft | skipped | bumped / printed |

## How releasing works now

`pnpm release` prompts for the channel and **defaults to beta**, so
day-to-day releases are betas; stable is always an explicit choice.
Choosing stable from `main` triggers assisted promotion: the script
proposes the newest beta tag reachable from HEAD, verifies `release`
fast-forwards to it, then runs the whole stable release inside a
temporary git worktree on `release` — the primary checkout never leaves
`main`. Changesets pre-mode preserves changeset files across betas, so
the promoted stable release aggregates every changeset since the last
stable into one clean changelog entry.

## Design decisions

- **Every publish path names an explicit `--tag`.** A beta accidentally
landing on `latest` is the one unrecoverable failure of a dual-track
scheme, so nothing relies on npm's implicit default (`release.mjs`,
`version.yml`).
- **Beta channel resolves to semver-max of `latest` and `beta`**, so
beta users are offered each promoted stable once it overtakes their
prerelease. Switching beta → stable never downgrades; `fn update
--channel stable --force` is the explicit escape hatch.
- **One comparator instead of three.** CLI, dashboard, and desktop each
had their own `isRemoteNewer` that ignored prerelease identifiers —
`0.73.0-beta.2`, `-beta.3`, and `0.73.0` all compared equal, which
breaks the moment any beta exists. They now share full SemVer-precedence
helpers (`compareVersions`, `resolveUpdateTargetVersion`) from
`@fusion/core`.
- **Installs pin exact versions** (`@runfusion/fusion@0.73.0-beta.2`),
never a dist-tag, so an install can't silently land on the wrong track.
- **Desktop channels via electron-updater manifests.** Beta tags build
desktop artifacts with `publish.channel=beta` (emitting `beta*.yml`);
the app sets `channel`/`allowPrerelease` from the shared setting,
re-read on every manual check.
- **Update caches are channel-stamped** — a cache written for one
channel is never served to the other, so switching tracks takes effect
on the next check instead of after TTL.

## Test plan

- New unit coverage: SemVer precedence + channel resolution in
`@fusion/core` (30), channel behavior of the dashboard update check (28,
incl. 9 new) and `fn update` (16, incl. 8 new: persist `--channel`,
no-downgrade, `--force`, cache channel mismatch).
- `pnpm verify:fast` green (scoped typecheck, builds, CLI build, boot
smoke); desktop + settings-section suites green.
- `release.mjs` dry-run matrix exercised by hand: channel prompt
(default/override/invalid), branch preflights per channel,
assisted-promotion target selection, fast-forward guard against a
diverged `release` branch, and bootstrap when no `release` branch
exists.
- Not exercised live: an end-to-end publish (needs TTY authorization +
real npm publish). First real run is the first `pnpm release --channel
beta`.

95e011f890 fix(core): auto-repair empty non-UTF-8 embedded Postgres clusters on boot (#2286)
Users whose embedded cluster was initdb'd with an OS-locale encoding by
a pre-fix version now self-heal with zero manual steps: on the
encoding-conversion schema failure the startup factory proves the
cluster is non-UTF-8 AND empty (the baseline transaction never applied,
so no schema or migrated data can exist) and that this process owns the
postmaster, then deletes the data dir and reboots once with the UTF-8
initdb defaults. Joined instances and unproven states keep the manual
re-init hint; one retry ever, so no loops.

Verified on the elevated windows-latest runner: CI seeds a real WIN1252
cluster via initdb and proves a stock 'fn serve' auto-recovers it to a
healthy /api/health (run 29633351848, all jobs green). Also caps the
desktop-windows embedded-PG smoke at 30 min and adds a skip input.

d4ee80a818 fix(core): Windows embedded Postgres — no local user account, UTF-8 clusters, diagnosable boot errors
Squash of feature/win-elevated-no-user, verified end-to-end on the
elevated windows-latest runner (restricted-token double boot + full
'fn serve' /api/health smoke, both green).

- Elevated Windows boots embedded PostgreSQL via pg_ctl's built-in
  restricted-token re-exec instead of creating a 'fusion-pg' local user
  (operator requirement: Fusion must never create accounts). Removes
  the credential launcher, icacls grants, and cmd/PowerShell wrapper —
  and with them the 'directory name is invalid' and wrapper-log EBUSY
  field failures. Leftover fusion-pg accounts are deleted on start.
- Embedded clusters are always initdb'd --encoding=UTF8 --locale=C
  (GitHub issue #2286: OS-locale WIN1252/WIN1254 clusters could not
  store the UTF-8 schema and crash-looped the dashboard). Existing
  non-UTF-8 clusters get an actionable re-init hint at boot.
- Schema-backend boot failures now surface the full error cause chain
  (DrizzleQueryError hid the real PostgresError behind the SQL text).
- Elevated stop() waits until the port closes and postmaster.pid is
  gone before resolving.
- CI: branch verification workflow (restricted-token proof + elevated
  boot smoke + account-absence assertions); boot-smoke stderr tail
  widened for diagnosability.

6b893f78ec fix(cli): make the standalone fn binary boot PostgreSQL in both modes
The bun-compiled exe has been unbootable since the PG cutover: bun
standalone binaries do no node_modules resolution, so the deliberately
out-of-graph require("embedded-postgres") failed from /$bunfs, and
readFile'd migration .sql files were never embedded, so even external
DATABASE_URL mode died at schema init.

- schema-applier: resolveMigrationsDir() — FUSION_MIGRATIONS_DIR env >
  module-relative dist/migrations (npm/desktop, unchanged) >
  execPath-relative migrations/ (standalone exe), probe-based.
- embedded-lifecycle: require("embedded-postgres") first (npm/desktop
  untouched), falling back to a self-contained staged bundle at
  <execDir>/runtime/<platform>/embedded-postgres/dist/index.cjs
  (FUSION_EMBEDDED_PG_RUNTIME_DIR override) with the native
  initdb/pg_ctl/postgres payload beside it.
- build.ts: stage dist/migrations plus the per-target embedded-postgres
  bundle + native payload (warn when a cross-target payload is absent on
  the host, mirroring desktop's verifyEmbeddedPostgresPayloads).
- release.yml: package fn-cli-<os>-<arch>.tar.gz (binary + migrations +
  runtime + client) with sha256 per leg; prune staged payload files from
  the release-collection globs; bare fn-cli-* binaries still uploaded.

E2E-verified on the compiled binary: embedded mode initdb→/api/health
200 database healthy; DATABASE_URL mode applied migrations 0000–0019
(109 tables). Core typecheck clean; schema-applier 58/58 and
embedded-lifecycle 44/44 tests pass.

5caf360a58 fix(desktop): green Windows smoke + Linux AppImage PG packaging checks (#2138)
## Summary
- **Windows CI:** run the embedded Postgres smoke as non-admin
`fusion-pg` (with profile prewarm) so elevated `windows-latest` runners
stop failing with PostgreSQL’s admin-token refusal. Packaging still runs
as the job user.
- **Linux AppImage:** add a packaging content verifier for
`main-bootstrap`, `@embedded-postgres` natives, and `omp-runtime` dist
entrypoints; wire it into `release.yml`, `test-release.yml`, and the
advisory **Desktop packaging** PR lane (after `electron-builder --dir`).
- Fix eslint `no-undef` on bare `URL` in the verifier script (was red on
#2131).

## Context
Desktop packaging on Ubuntu was mostly green; Windows desktop builds and
the AppImage packaging PR (#2131 lint) were the remaining red paths. The
win-pg-diag pivot (run smoke as non-admin) proved green on CI; this
ports that approach without removing main’s elevated-token product path
for end-user “Run as administrator” cases (smoke simply does not take
that path when the process is non-admin).

## Test plan
- [x] `pnpm --filter @fusion/desktop exec vitest run
src/__tests__/release-workflow.test.ts`
- [x] `pnpm exec eslint scripts/verify-desktop-linux-pg-packaging.mjs`
- [ ] Desktop packaging workflow on this PR
- [ ] Desktop Windows Build (workflow_dispatch)
- [ ] Confirm #2131 supersession if this lands the same AppImage checks

## Summary by CodeRabbit

* **Bug Fixes**
* Strengthened Linux desktop AppImage validation to confirm embedded
PostgreSQL artifacts, required binaries, symlink hydration, and the
expected app entrypoints are present after packaging.
* Improved Windows embedded PostgreSQL smoke testing by running under a
non-administrator helper user with a prewarmed profile environment.

* **Tests**
* Added automated packaging/release workflow verification steps (Linux
and Windows) to catch embedded PostgreSQL content regressions earlier,
including during artifact build and release verification.

8de0fbcd01 fix: repair full-suite failures after SQLite-to-PostgreSQL cutover (#2086)
## Summary

Fixes all deterministic full-suite (non-blocking) CI failures on `main`
caused by the SQLite-to-PostgreSQL cutover (VAL-REMOVAL-005).

## Changes

### i18n Key Parity (5 locale files)
- Added missing `taskPopupsBoardListOnly` +
`taskPopupsBoardListOnlyHelp` keys (empty strings per convention) to
zh-CN, zh-TW, fr, es, ko `app.json`

### Dashboard Curated-Gate Guard (`scripts/lib/test-quarantine.json`)
- Repaired "mirror drift": 16 dashboard test files were quarantined in
`vitest.config.ts` but never added to the quarantine ledger. Added all
16 with failing run URLs and `quarantinedAt` dates.

### Line-Count Audit CI Cache (`.github/workflows/full-suite.yml`)
- Removed `skip-install: "true"` from `line-count-audit` job —
`setup-node@v5` with `cache: pnpm` failed post-step because no
`node_modules` existed to cache.

### Engine Slow Tier — Full PG Migration
- **CI**: Added PostgreSQL service container to `test-slow` job (same
config as `test-shards`)
- **`_helpers.ts`**: Migrated `makeReliabilityFixture()` from removed
SQLite `Database.init()` to PG-backed `TaskStore`:
  - Added `probeTcpReachable()` (TCP probe, copied from shared harness)
  - Added `hasPg` export (uses TCP probe, not env-var guess)
- Added `adminExecAsync()` (`Promise.withResolvers`, psql via
`PG_TEST_URL_BASE`)
- Added `createPgLayer()` (fresh PG database + schema baseline +
`AsyncDataLayer`)
  - Updated cleanup: `await store.close()`, close layer, drop database
- **Slow test**: Migrated 24 sync SQLite API calls to async PG APIs:
- `store.getRunAuditEvents()` → `await auditEvents(store, ...)` via
exported `queryRunAuditEvents`
- `store.getDatabase().prepare(...)` → Drizzle queries via
`store.getAsyncLayer()!.db`
- **Core exports**: Added `queryRunAuditEvents` from `async-audit.ts`
and `eq as drizzleEq` from `drizzle-orm`
- **22 reliability test files**: Added `hasPg` guards so tests skip
locally when PG is unavailable

### Shard 3 — PG Test Auth Bug (18 postgres test files)
- Replaced `psql -U ${process.env.USER ?? "postgres"}` with `psql
"${PG_TEST_URL_BASE}/postgres"` connection string. On GitHub Actions,
`process.env.USER` is `'runner'`, not `'postgres'`, causing auth
failure.

### Shard 3 — Removed Function Tests (`mesh-task-replication.test.ts`)
- Deleted 3 tests for functions intentionally removed in PostgresCutover
(`buildMeshReplicatedTaskCreatePayload`, `toReplicatedCreateInput`,
`taskMatchesReplicatedCreate`). Kept `buildBootstrapPrompt` test.

### Shard 3 — Store Thinking Levels (`store-thinking-levels.test.ts`)
- Migrated from removed SQLite path to PG-backed
`createTaskStoreForTest` + `pgDescribe`.

## Verification

| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| Merge gate (`pnpm test:gate`) | ✅ 294 + 99 + 63 = 456 passed |
| Engine slow tier (22 tests) | ✅ 22/22 passed |
| i18n parity tests | ✅ 7 passed |
| mesh-task-replication | ✅ 1 passed |
| PG data-layer | ✅ 14 passed |
| PG taskstore-lifecycle | ✅ 16 passed |
| store-thinking-levels | ✅ 1 passed |
| Dashboard curated-gate | ✅ passes |

## Parked (not in scope)

- **Shards 1/2 timeout**: Engine test suite exceeds CI time budget.
Pre-existing, unrelated to these fixes.
- **2 latent PG files** (`chat-store-content-search-edit`,
`satellite-db-injected-stores`): Surface a separate pre-existing schema
baseline gap. Out of scope.

c15c78feeb feat: migrate storage from SQLite to PostgreSQL (#1793)
# Migrate storage from SQLite to PostgreSQL — full dashboard cutover

Migrates Fusion's storage layer to the embedded PostgreSQL
`AsyncDataLayer` (the default backend) and **completes the
satellite-store + feature cutover** so every dashboard and Command
Center surface works in PG mode.

## Status — every surface works in embedded-PG mode

Verified live against a running embedded-Postgres dashboard (all
**200**, zero 5xx) and gate-tested (**23 files / 99 tests** on embedded
PG, plus engine-core 294 and ci-shape 63 in the blocking merge gate;
core/engine/cli/dashboard typecheck clean).

| Area | Surfaces | State |
|---|---|---|
| Satellite stores | workflows, todos, insights, research, missions,
goals, mailbox | ✅ |
| Views | artifacts, documents, evals | ✅ |
| Command Center | activity, productivity, team, tokens, tools,
**workflows**, **github**, **signals**, **plugin-activations**, **live**
(all 10) | ✅ |
| Run execution | insight generation, research run execution | ✅
(store-path; AI step needs a provider) |
| Live updates | SSE push for mission/research/insight events | ✅ |
| Workflow editing | create / update / delete / select (+ id counter) |
✅ |
| Engine | mission autopilot, incident-signal ingestion, regression
storm-guard, agent wake-on-message | ✅ |
| Core | tasks, agents, secrets, automations, memory, chat, usage, PRs,
git | ✅ |

## Approach

Each satellite store gets an `Async<Store>` wrapper exposing the sync
store's method names over the existing `async-*-store.ts` helpers;
`get<Store>Store()` returns a `Sync | Async` union; consumers `await`
(harmless on sync), and engine/CLI paths that can't convert use
`instanceof Sync` graceful fallback. Analytics aggregators branch on
`"ping" in dbOrLayer` to run schema-qualified raw SQL over `project.*`
(snake_case) in PG. Executors/orchestrators/autopilot are
await-converted to drive the union store; the async store wrappers
extend `EventEmitter` so SSE live-push fires in both backends.

Not-yet-ported capabilities degrade gracefully (never 500) and are
individually called out in commits.

## Sync with main

The branch is kept continuously merged with `main` (currently through
FN-7845, 2026-07-12); the earlier "final rebase deferred" note no longer
applies. Use **Create a merge commit** (or squash) to land it — GitHub's
rebase-merge cannot replay a merge-maintained branch.

## Residual Review Findings

Multi-agent code review of the PostgreSQL satellite-store ports (U1–U5)
applied 3 safe fixes (see `fix(review): apply autofix feedback`). The
following are **real but gated** — recorded here as follow-up work
rather than auto-applied. All are SQLite→PostgreSQL
**concurrency/atomicity regressions**: the sync stores were immune only
by SQLite's single-writer, single-threaded-handler execution; the async
ports open multi-await read-modify-write windows. **Reachability is low
today** because the execution engines that generate concurrent same-run
mutations (insight run executor, research orchestrator/dispatcher) are
`instanceof`-gated to sync mode in PG. No process-crash class survived
(all engine fallbacks correctly guard the sync store).

- **[P1] Research `appendResearchEvent` dual-write is non-atomic**
(`packages/core/src/async-research-store.ts`, corroborated: adversarial
+ reliability). The `research_run_events` insert (own transaction) and
the `run.events` jsonb update are separate writes — a crash between
them, or two concurrent appends, splits the table count from the jsonb
array. **Fix:** perform the seq-insert and the jsonb update in one
`layer.transactionImmediate`.
- **[P1] Research run terminal-reversion via stale full-row persist**
(`async-research-store.ts` `persistResearchRun`/`updateResearchStatus`).
Concurrent `PATCH /runs/:id/status` + `POST /runs/:id/events` can revert
a terminal run to `running` by overwriting the whole row, bypassing the
transition guard. **Fix:** scoped column `UPDATE`s with a `WHERE status
…` guard, or optimistic version column.
- **[P2] `updateResearchRun`/`updateInsightRun` read-then-write TOCTOU**
— concurrent PATCHes last-writer-wins on the lifecycle merge. **Fix:**
`SELECT … FOR UPDATE` / enclosing transaction.
- **[P2] `upsertRun`/`createRunOrThrowConflict` check-then-create race**
(`async-insight-store.ts`) — two callers can each create an "active"
run. **Fix:** partial unique index on `(projectId, trigger) WHERE status
IN ('pending','running')`.
- **[P3] `createResearchRetryRun` return-value divergence** — sync
returns the pre-update `queued` snapshot; async returns the reloaded
`retry_waiting` run (persisted state is identical). Pick one side for
cross-backend parity.
- **[P2/perf] Mission `getMissionWithHierarchy`/`getMissionHealth` N+1
fan-out** — O(milestones×slices) sequential round-trips hold one pool
slot per request; can starve the pool for large hierarchies. **Fix:**
batched/joined reads.
- **Testing gaps:** no PG-mode concurrency tests (interleaved
status/event mutations), no sync↔async parity assertion for the
lifecycle-error codes, and no mission status/health rollup parity test
vs the sync `MissionStore`.

~~Out of scope (deferred): AI run *execution* (insight/research) +
mission autopilot + live SSE mission events remain sync-gated/degraded
in PG mode.~~ **Since ported** — insight/research run execution, mission
autopilot, and SSE live push all run on the async layer now, which also
makes the concurrency findings above genuinely reachable; they remain
open follow-ups.

## Update — 2026-07-12: production-readiness hardening & live acceptance

Everything below landed on this branch since the description above was
written:

**Production blockers from review — fixed**
- `recoverStaleTransitionPending` ported to the async layer (backend
moves write + clear the crash-safe marker; startup/maintenance sweeps no
longer throw).
- Lost-update class fixed: `atomicWriteTaskJson`/`WithAudit` write
changed columns only (full-row upserts silently resurrected stale fields
across concurrent store instances — the "task stuck unplanned forever"
bug).
- First-boot **auto-migration**: booting the PG backend over a project
with a legacy `fusion.db` migrates it automatically (loud failure,
SQLite kept as backup), and the dashboard shows a one-time **"your data
was migrated" banner** with the backup paths and a Need-help Discord
link.
- `pg_dump`/`pg_restore` discovered from common install locations for
embedded-mode backups.
- The PG suite is part of the blocking merge gate (`test:pg-gate`).

**Multi-project isolation (PR #2007, merged into this branch)**
- `project_id` partition key on tasks / archived tasks / config,
`taskProjectScope` threaded through every scan/claim/count, per-project
config rows, layer bound to the project at startup.
- Review P1 follow-up: the shared cold-storage `archive.archived_tasks`
table is also partitioned and all archived-board reads/counts/searches
are scoped.
- Schema drift self-heal generalized to schema-qualified columns so
existing databases upgrade in place.

**Other changes**
- Node settings sync **removed** in PG mode (409
`settings-sync-disabled-postgres`) — nodes share state by connecting to
the same database; auth sync kept (per-machine file).
- Perf (review findings): `listTasks` pushes column filter + ORDER BY +
LIMIT/OFFSET into SQL; `getConversation` capped to the most recent 200
messages.
- Fixed a false "operator action required" pause-abort log fired on
every successfully auto-merged task.

**Live acceptance — PASSED (2026-07-12)**
A sandboxed instance (isolated HOME, embedded PG, real Opus executor)
ran a task through the complete cycle: create → triage (AI spec) →
execute → in-review → AI squash-merge landed on the project's `main` →
done. A write+read sweep of every data surface (settings, comments,
documents, attachments + artifact bridge + artifact edit, chat with real
generation, goals, missions, agent mail, secrets, workflows, memory, CC
analytics) was green on embedded PG.

**Known remaining work**
- The per-project `config` PK re-key has no upgrade path for
pre-isolation embedded-PG databases (needs a real `DROP
CONSTRAINT`/re-key migration; fresh databases are fine).
- `pg_dump`/`pg_restore` binaries are not yet bundled in release
artifacts (PATH/common-location discovery only).
- The satellite-store concurrency findings listed above.

71dfd3aeca FN-7568: rename CLI release binary assets to fn-cli-<platform>
Renames the downloadable GitHub Release CLI binaries so they don't collide with other well-known fn-named tools on a user's PATH; the local dev binary name is unchanged.

- Update binaryNameForTarget in packages/cli/build.ts to emit fn-cli-<suffix> instead of fn-<suffix> (local dev binary stays fn/fn.exe)
- Update release.yml and test-release.yml build matrices to use fn-cli-linux-x64, fn-cli-linux-arm64, fn-cli-darwin-arm64, fn-cli-windows-x64.exe
- Update build-exe-cross, ci-workflow, and package-config tests to assert the new fn-cli-<platform> asset names
- Add changeset documenting the release-asset rename

682de0e050 fix(ci): move desktop-pack out of pr-checks.yml into its own workflow
The desktop-pack job broke the CI-shape invariant (ci-workflow.test.ts) that
pr-checks.yml contains exactly [build, gate, lint, typecheck] — the gate's
job set maps 1:1 to branch-protection required checks. Extract the advisory
desktop-packaging validation into desktop-packaging.yml, still PR-triggered
and non-required, so the thin gate stays pure.

c1fc9a7298 fix(deps): drop stale @aws-sdk/core override + add desktop packaging CI gate
The Windows desktop installer failed to package: electron-builder's production-dependency walk rejected
`@aws-sdk/core@3.974.26` because `@aws-sdk/credential-provider-env` (resolved in the `--legacy` deploy
closure) requires `^3.974.27`. Root cause: an incidental `pnpm.overrides` entry pinning
`@aws-sdk/core` to the exact version `3.974.26` (added without rationale in an unrelated commit) which
force-held core below what its consumers now demand — the classic stale-exact-pin trap.

Fixes / prevention:
- Remove the `@aws-sdk/core` override so the deploy closure resolves core to 3.974.27 (satisfies all
  consumers). The main lockfile still resolves core to 3.974.26 for its own consistent graph, so the
  published @runfusion/fusion closure is unchanged (no changeset needed). Verified locally: a fresh
  `@fusion/desktop build` + `electron-builder --dir` now passes the dependency walk with no manual patch.
- Add an advisory, path-gated `Desktop packaging` job to pr-checks.yml that reproduces electron-builder's
  production-dependency walk (`--dir`, no NSIS/signing) plus a `pnpm dedupe --check` early-warning. This
  is the only check that validates the packageable closure, which previously ran only in release/manual
  workflows — so any future dependency skew now fails at PR time, for ANY dependency, instead of at
  release/local-build time. Kept OUT of the required set so the thin merge gate [Lint, Typecheck, Build,
  Gate] and branch protection are untouched; promote to blocking by adding it to required checks.

08e47d4f0d fix(desktop): migrate userData on relocation, verify packaged assets, harden Windows CI
- Add a one-time copy of the previous default Electron profile into
  ~/.fusion/desktop-user-data (user-data-migration.ts) so upgrading operators
  keep window geometry/session instead of starting fresh (report Issue 8).
- Verify main.js/preload.js/client assets in scripts/build.ts (pre-package
  staging) and in the packaged app.asar via desktop-windows.yml, so an
  incomplete package fails the build/CI instead of dead-ending at runtime with
  a silent missing preload (report Issue 5, recommendation #2).
- Fix two pre-existing stale workflow-assertion tests that expected a bare
  'electron-builder --win' after the scripts moved to '--projectDir deploy'.
- Update the field report with a per-issue resolution matrix.

abd596b700 fix: pack full desktop dependency closure + resolve bun/desktop plugin loading on Windows
Desktop "Local" mode crashed with ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND because electron-builder's
pnpm collector drops `deduped` subtrees, so engine's transitive closure
(@modelcontextprotocol/sdk, pi-ai provider SDKs, etc.) was never packed. Stage the
complete flat prod closure with `pnpm deploy --legacy --config.node-linker=hoisted`
and package it via `electron-builder --projectDir deploy`, bypassing the lossy
collector entirely.

Also make the dashboard-imported example plugins loadable under plain Node (the
Electron main runtime): cursor/droid/roadmap now expose compiled `dist` on the
`import` condition (keeping `source`→src for the bun CLI) and are built during the
desktop build. Add `source` conditions to paperclip/agent-browser/even-cards/
even-realities-glasses/whatsapp-chat so the bun `--conditions=source` Windows CLI
compile resolves them from source.

Validated on macOS: @fusion/core|engine|dashboard import cleanly from the staged
deploy; packing yields a complete 705-package asar; bun-windows-x64 cross-compiles
with all plugin dist removed.

3aef6dd5cf fix: build @fusion/core and @fusion/engine dist in desktop packaging
The packaged desktop "Local" runtime dynamically imports @fusion/engine, whose
tsc dist is gitignored. desktop-windows.yml built only `@fusion/desktop build`
(no root `pnpm build`), so it packaged an empty engine/dist and the app crashed
on Local mode with ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND for app.asar/node_modules/@fusion/engine.

Make the desktop build self-contained (build core then engine before packaging)
and add the parity `pnpm build` step to desktop-windows.yml.

1f3a15ec1c FN-7360: fix Windows desktop runtime packaging
Fix packaged Windows desktop startup by preserving Node-safe runtime dependencies and dashboard registry assets.

- Externalize Electron main/preload npm packages so CommonJS updater dependencies load natively.
- Load the dashboard plugin registry manifest through file IO and copy it into dashboard server dist from all build paths.
- Split Windows NSIS and portable artifact names and verify required Electron runtime resources in CI.

a45cbffa13 fix(release): checkout CHANGELOG in github-release job so binaries publish
The github-release job downloaded artifacts but never checked out the repo,
so the new "Extract release notes from CHANGELOG" step threw ENOENT and failed
the whole job — v0.47.0 published 0 binaries despite every bun build succeeding.
Sparse-checkout CHANGELOG.md and harden the notes script to fall back to a plain
release body instead of crashing the publish.
