## Summary
Fusion can now ship on two release tracks. Betas are cut from `main` as
`vX.Y.Z-beta.N` (npm dist-tag `beta`, GitHub prerelease), stable
releases are promoted to a long-lived `release` branch and published to
`latest`, and users pick their track with the new `updateChannel` global
setting — via **Settings → General → Release channel** or `fn update
--channel <stable|beta>`. Previously everything was single-track: every
publish landed on `latest` and every update surface could only see it.
| | beta | stable |
|---|---|---|
| Cut from | `main` | `release` branch |
| Version | `X.Y.Z-beta.N` (changesets pre-mode) | `X.Y.Z` |
| npm dist-tag | `beta` | `latest` |
| GitHub Release | prerelease | latest |
| Homebrew tap / X draft | skipped | bumped / printed |
## How releasing works now
`pnpm release` prompts for the channel and **defaults to beta**, so
day-to-day releases are betas; stable is always an explicit choice.
Choosing stable from `main` triggers assisted promotion: the script
proposes the newest beta tag reachable from HEAD, verifies `release`
fast-forwards to it, then runs the whole stable release inside a
temporary git worktree on `release` — the primary checkout never leaves
`main`. Changesets pre-mode preserves changeset files across betas, so
the promoted stable release aggregates every changeset since the last
stable into one clean changelog entry.
## Design decisions
- **Every publish path names an explicit `--tag`.** A beta accidentally
landing on `latest` is the one unrecoverable failure of a dual-track
scheme, so nothing relies on npm's implicit default (`release.mjs`,
`version.yml`).
- **Beta channel resolves to semver-max of `latest` and `beta`**, so
beta users are offered each promoted stable once it overtakes their
prerelease. Switching beta → stable never downgrades; `fn update
--channel stable --force` is the explicit escape hatch.
- **One comparator instead of three.** CLI, dashboard, and desktop each
had their own `isRemoteNewer` that ignored prerelease identifiers —
`0.73.0-beta.2`, `-beta.3`, and `0.73.0` all compared equal, which
breaks the moment any beta exists. They now share full SemVer-precedence
helpers (`compareVersions`, `resolveUpdateTargetVersion`) from
`@fusion/core`.
- **Installs pin exact versions** (`@runfusion/fusion@0.73.0-beta.2`),
never a dist-tag, so an install can't silently land on the wrong track.
- **Desktop channels via electron-updater manifests.** Beta tags build
desktop artifacts with `publish.channel=beta` (emitting `beta*.yml`);
the app sets `channel`/`allowPrerelease` from the shared setting,
re-read on every manual check.
- **Update caches are channel-stamped** — a cache written for one
channel is never served to the other, so switching tracks takes effect
on the next check instead of after TTL.
## Test plan
- New unit coverage: SemVer precedence + channel resolution in
`@fusion/core` (30), channel behavior of the dashboard update check (28,
incl. 9 new) and `fn update` (16, incl. 8 new: persist `--channel`,
no-downgrade, `--force`, cache channel mismatch).
- `pnpm verify:fast` green (scoped typecheck, builds, CLI build, boot
smoke); desktop + settings-section suites green.
- `release.mjs` dry-run matrix exercised by hand: channel prompt
(default/override/invalid), branch preflights per channel,
assisted-promotion target selection, fast-forward guard against a
diverged `release` branch, and bootstrap when no `release` branch
exists.
- Not exercised live: an end-to-end publish (needs TTY authorization +
real npm publish). First real run is the first `pnpm release --channel
beta`.

Raise the durable archive cutoff to 0.60.0, keep only the current release in CHANGELOG.md, and rewrite labeled summary/category/dev package aggregates for 0.47–0.59 into operator-facing Highlights/New/Fixed notes.
Claude-author Highlights plus an engagement-oriented tweet (≤280) during changelog distillation, with scheme-free links, Fusion version openers that drop .0 patch, and a soft deterministic fallback when Claude is offline.
Adds a deterministic changelog-archive split so scripts/release.mjs stops regenerating one ever-growing root CHANGELOG.md and instead keeps only current release notes at the root while durably archiving pre-0.50.0 history.
- Add scripts/lib/changelog-archive.mjs with partitionVersionsByCutoff (splits a version-ordered list at the 0.50.0 cutoff, preserving order and treating non-parseable keys as archived) and archivePointerLine (renders the "older releases" pointer appended to the current changelog).
- Rework scripts/release.mjs's syncRootChangelog to build CHANGELOG.md (current versions + archive pointer) and a new CHANGELOG-archive.md (versions before 0.50.0) via a shared buildRootChangelogLines/normalizeChangelogLines helper instead of one monolithic file.
- Add scripts/__tests__/changelog-archive.test.mjs covering cutoff partitioning, boundary/patch handling, non-parseable keys, custom cutoffs, and the archive pointer text.
- Regenerate CHANGELOG.md (now only 0.50.0+) and add CHANGELOG-archive.md containing the pre-0.50.0 history moved out of the root file.

Remove the self-grantable FUSION_RELEASE_AUTHORIZED env signal and replace
it with an interactive prompt: a real release now requires a live human to
type "authorized" at a TTY. Releases can no longer run non-interactively
(no TTY is blocked outright), and --yes does not bypass the typed phrase.

Capture changeset entries before 'changeset version' deletes them,
distill deterministic notes post-version, and replace the version's
section in the root CHANGELOG with curated end-user notes.
Require an out-of-repository operator signal before the release script can mutate version, publish, push, or tag.
- Add a reusable release authorization gate that allows dry-runs and blocks real releases without FUSION_RELEASE_AUTHORIZED.
- Invoke the gate in scripts/release.mjs before the first release mutation while preserving dry-run behavior.
- Cover blocked, authorized, dry-run, whitespace, TTY, and call-order behavior with script tests.

The tap is a gitignored sibling repo, so `git add` from the main repo
failed. Pass cwd through `run()` and target homebrew-tap/ for the
add/commit/push.

Adds a `bumpHomebrewTap(version)` step that fetches the freshly published
tarball from registry.npmjs.org, recomputes its sha256, rewrites
homebrew-tap/Formula/fusion.rb (url + sha256), and pushes a follow-up
`chore(tap): bump fusion to vX.Y.Z` commit to main. Includes a short
retry loop because the registry can take a few seconds to surface a
just-published tarball. All failures are warnings — they don't abort
the release since the npm publish + tag are already out.

Merges FN-3311 work into the release pipeline: adds a version notes extractor with tests and integrates GitHub release creation into the release script, plus a minor CSS design token consistency fix in the dashboard.
Fusion-Task-Id: FN-3311
This merge adds a new llama.cpp local AI provider integration, including a `pi-llama-cpp` CLI extension package with model resolution and context retrieval, a `LlamaCppProviderCard` UI component for provider configuration, backend API routes for model registration and llama.cpp probe/health checking
Fusion-Task-Id: FN-3377
The single "smart" strategy is now two flavors with the new default flipped
to prefer-main. Both share a pre-cascade `git fetch origin <currentBranch>`
+ best-effort fast-forward so a freshly-pushed sibling commit doesn't get
clobbered when the fallback resolves a conflict against a stale base.
- "smart-prefer-main" (new default): -X ours fallback. Protects just-merged
sibling work from being regressed by a concurrent task branch.
- "smart-prefer-branch": -X theirs fallback. Equivalent to legacy "smart".
Legacy "smart" / "prefer-main" enum values are accepted and normalized via
`normalizeMergeConflictStrategy()` so existing settings.json files migrate
seamlessly. The fast-forward step gracefully degrades on fetch failure or
divergent local main (logs and continues).
Updates settings UI dropdown, test helpers, and adds 5 fetch+ff regression
tests + 7 normalize-helper tests. Lint cleanup of two empty catch blocks
in scripts/release.mjs.

The dry-run gate was at the bottom of the script, after version bump,
lockfile update, CHANGELOG sync, build, and the chore(release) commit
had already run — so a dry-run left the local repo with a stray version
commit that had to be reset. Move the gate to right after the version
selection so dry-run shows the full preview (changesets, proposed
version, override prompt) and exits before mutating anything. Drop the
now-dead late check and the redundant DRY_RUN short-circuit in confirm().

Dry-run was previously bundled with --yes for the version prompt, so
it silently accepted the proposed version and skipped the interactive
flow it's meant to exercise. Only --yes should auto-accept.

Show pending changeset summaries, compute the proposed semver via
`pnpm changeset status --output`, and prompt for an override before
applying. If the user picks a different version, post-process every
fixed-group package's package.json + CHANGELOG.md heading so the
commit, npm publish, and tag all use the chosen version. --yes and
--dry-run skip the prompt and accept the proposed version.
Adds a changeset for the recent SetupWizard scroll + model onboarding
handoff fixes.

TUI: vitest memory-guard threshold and on/off toggle now persist to
global settings (vitestAutoKillEnabled / vitestKillThresholdPct), so
they survive dashboard restarts. Stats panel shows the system-memory
used percentage next to used/free. Utilities panel exposes [+/-] to
adjust the threshold in 5% steps (50–99%).
Release: scripts/release.mjs auto-syncs a root CHANGELOG.md aggregated
from every packages/*/CHANGELOG.md, grouped by version with one
sub-block per package.
Versioning: all private @fusion/* packages joined the changesets fixed
group with the public cli + cli-alias and were aligned to 0.2.5, so
every release bumps every package and produces per-package CHANGELOG
entries that the aggregator picks up.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Wraps the changesets flow into one command: preflight (branch/clean/up-to-date),
apply changesets (version bump + CHANGELOG), build, commit, publish to npm, push
tag. The tag push triggers release.yml for platform binary builds.
Trade-off vs the version.yml CI workflow: no npm provenance (OIDC is CI-only).
Use the CI workflow when provenance matters.
Flags: --dry-run (no publish/push), --yes (skip confirmation).
